Artist's private collection

My work celebrates the significant duties that Hajar and Sarah have accomplished in the name of God and the important roles they have both carried out during the life of Abraham. Hajar’s predicament would not have existed if it wasn’t for Sarah’s predicament. Both women valued the importance of their children, Ismail and Isaac. Although Sarah and Hajar have drifted away from each other, they are both still considered as the two pivotal branches in
the family tree of believers.

A tree represents Adam and how the three major religions all rise from the same beginning. The Kaabah structure is a symbol of peace as it is a duty for all of us to make peace the centre and goal of our contemporary lives. A tray offers ritual objects that honour the gift of birth, the gift of the soil (in the shape of roses), and a leather siqqa represents
the gift of water.

Harvest - Exhibition Statement

A tribute to the resilience of women and their daily struggle in zones of conflict. A series of stretched looms anticipate newborn gift giving and hope for peace in the future. These looms are an attempt to create a spiritual escape from the ruthlessness of war resulting from the greed of the materialistic world over who can own most of the Arab oil. Women in war zones have taken charge of the burial of their husbands & sons, providing for their families and overseeing the well-being of their faith and spirituality. My work is a desperate outreach for women’s’ support as a human quest for peace and healing.

This artwork also appeared in the Women in the Bible exhibition.
